Faced with an unprecedented economic, social and political crisis, the AXA Foundation for Human Progress announces exceptional support for Lebanon, in partnership with two major humanitarian organizations: l'Œuvre d'Orient and the French Red Cross.
Comprehensive Support for the Most Vulnerable Populations
L'Œuvre d'Orient, present in the region for 170 years and recognized by UNESCO and ECOSOC (United Nations Economic and Social Council), benefits from this support to operate across the entire Lebanese territory. In close collaboration with local associations, the organization deploys concrete and multidimensional assistance: distribution of hygiene products, food and medicine, access to medical care and psychological support, meals for thousands of displaced people, as well as support for centers and dispensaries welcoming elderly and vulnerable individuals.
Strengthening the Red Cross's Intervention Capacities
A key player in the Lebanese healthcare system, the Lebanese Red Cross — which handles 35% of the country's national blood collection — sees its intervention capacities significantly strengthened through the support of the French Red Cross as part of this partnership. Teams will be able to support frontline ambulance services, deploy emergency medical units, supply health centers and distribute hygiene and essential supply kits, while reinforcing their logistics and coordination.
A Long-Term Commitment
This initiative reflects the AXA Foundation for Human Progress's commitment to working alongside recognized field partners, capable of delivering rapid and tailored responses to the needs of populations. This mobilization alongside AXA Middle East reaffirms its solidarity with the Lebanese people during one of the most difficult periods in their recent history. It fully aligns with the Foundation’s mission: to repair today, by helping address the most urgent needs, and to prepare for tomorrow, by strengthening communities' capacity to face crises, recover and rebuild over the long term.
